By the way, what did you mean by “Now that I've read the previous comments..” ? I thought the poem was supposed to convey the intent, not the comments! So, I failed miserably,as usual, huh? :D
I like your poem... it kinda strikes a chord, and I have always thought these days were made for the benefit of the card companies!!

Very true that, on a single day women are 'Deified' yet on most others they are seen and handled quite the opposite. Quite a relection of the world!!!
U ve put it well.. asking HER to live and do what she wants on this given day....
However, i felt very depressing reading the concluding lines...
After WOMEN have come a long way!!!
We can sure see many women out there, known and unknown, who are living THEIR life... Lets hail them and move forward.

Hey sorry, I didn't mean to be mean (forgive miserable sentence construction) but I'm simply not the type who understands poetry. My comprehension of poetry is limited to Baa Baa Black Sheep, that too after repeated threats of being manhandled by my LKG teacher. :D
Now that the begging is done, what do you exactly mean by 'some souls breathe everyday'? I've seen girls go on and on about gender equality, yet go and eject any poor guy who dares sit in the 'Ladies' seat of the bus. Do we actually need a day to celebrate hypocrisy? (Now go ahead, call me a M.C.P)

I can guess that your L.K.G teacher was very pretty that you deliberately retarded your learning of Baa Baa Black sheep ( Seriously kidding, no offence intended. In fact, one friend of mine had given that reason when I had asked of his acute interest in a subject) :D :D
Let me clarify, about a day of hypocrisy, the poem also intended to convey ( how far it did, I am not sure ) the same that women don’t need a day of honour, they need honour to last forever. When I said “ Some souls breathe everyday”, I meant, your ( men, in general) existence is identified every day, unlike the ones whose existence is limited to a day. The concern about the “Ladies seat” and “equality of gender” was conveniently twisted ,right? I too, in a way, agree with that. Why have just four seats for women in the buses?.... Equal proportions is the need for the hour….rightly pointed out, although unknowingly :D
My two penny worth of comment - Womens Day is not required, as are Fathers' Day and Mothers' Day. I do not understand the hypocrisy surrounding the whole issue. Why pick out a single day to honor women? There is feminity in all of us. We must respect that. And if the purpose of having Womens' Day is to seek upliftment of the deprived lot, then everyone of us is well aware as to how successful that has been!!
